California Labor Laws - Assembly Bill No. 10 - Coming January 1, 2016, California employers, in all industries, will be facing rising mandatory wage increases for their lower-tier employees, or those earning a minimum wage. 

California labor law tends to become the benchmark for the rest of the nation and compliance is often more complex compared to most other states. Each year brings new requirements and new laws that must be complied with. Staying on top of these changes and additions can be a job in itself.

As of today, May 1, 2015, San Francisco employers must increase the minimum hourly wages of their employees to at least $12.25 per hour.

This new rate places San Francisco on par with Oakland for the highest legally mandated pay for non-salaried workers in the nation. And, according to the National Employment Law Project, an estimated 142,000 workers will benefit from the higher wages. There may not be a better time for this increase as San Francisco's economy is booming and the unemployment rate is down to 3 percent.
